Gratitude Journal: Feb 2019

February is all about beach life as I am exploring mystical Zanzibar! Zan-zi-bar! No matter how often you say it aloud, it always melts on your tongue like chocolate! And never seems to loose its touch of the exotic! Am super excited to be here.
What are you grateful for in February?

Most of the time I suck to keep up with my New Year’s Resolutions. Usually, I also try to implement too many things at once. And between you and me whispers in very low voice I find them stupid anyway… Why can’t you start with a new regime any day? Do you really have to wait for the clock to tick over on midnight at one special day in the year? Anyway, so far I can pat myself on the back! I only had one resolution for 2019 and that was to do three times a week yoga. Not because I want to be slimmer, healthier or leaner. It’s to support my hip joints; it helps to keep them pain-free most of the time.

Sticking to your New Year’s Resolutions with this one simple trick: BLOODY BRILLIANT.

I was sitting in the shade, close to the beach on Zanzibar Island working on my blog.  All of a sudden, I felt something on my leg. Looking down, I saw that little fella.

Realising how beautiful little things in life can be: MARVELLOUS.

Zanzibar is hot! Bloody hot! Daily temperatures are about 30 degree or 86 Fahrenheit. With a humidity level of 65%, it feels like temperatures are in the 40 degree (over 100 Fahrenheit). Not complaining though; I still love it. And my fridge…

Opening the fridge door and getting a whiff of fresh cold air: PRICELESS.

Zanzibar’s beaches have palms, white sand and the turquoise crystal clear Indian Ocean. Every time I head to the beach, am amazed how beautiful these colours are! I mean: Look at that!!

Admiring the beauty of nature and free things in life: INVALUABLE.

It feels like, I’ve been single forever! I can’t even remember last time I had a Valentine Date. Never mind, that’s not the point. The point is to appreciate beauty in life; no matter if you’re single or not.

Being able to spend Valentine’s Day in such a beautiful spot: GLORIOUS.

Every now and then I pinch a nerve! The only thing that helps is a chiropractor. Here I’m on beautiful Zanzibar wondering where I could find someone professional. My Internet search returned a wellness centre in Jambiani; they referred me to a guy called Chris. It turns out, Chris was a chiropractor for more than 20 years in the United States. He decided to change his life and move to Zanzibar with his wife to teach English. He treats people for free!

Meeting such a wonderful soul: EXCEPTIONAL.

Zanzibar Island has a predominantly Muslim population. The call to prayers is part of the daily routine. To me it’s such a peaceful and calming happening. My heart feels heavy when thinking about the general misconception of fear all over the world for anything Muslim.

Watching the sunset over the roofs of Stone Town and listening to the prayer call: SERENE.

Are you one of those people who prefer a cool climate? Not me. Am like a lizard; soaking up the sun as soon as it peaks over the horizon. I hate the cold. No surprise that I’ve managed to escape German winters most of the time.

Today I’ve arrived in Stone Town on Zanzibar Island. The moment I stepped out of the plane, I thought am in heaven. To some it may feel like you hit a wall. The humidity might even take your breath. I felt enveloped in a big warm bear hug! I couldn’t stop smiling while walking over glistening tarmac to immigration. How can climate have such an affect on my well being?

Feeling happy because the sun is out and the sky is covered in puffy white clouds: TERRIFIC.
